Welcome to my Garden
My idea of a real garden is one that I can share with all the wild creatures from insects to mammals,I do not spray any chemicals and my garden is completely organic the natural balance is now well established after 17 years here and I have very little problems with pest apart from the occasional battle with slugs!.I based it on an English Cottage garden as that to me seemed to be nearly an ideal way to encourage wildlife of all sorts.I do not grow many vegetables now though as it is all trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants boosted in the summer by carefully selected annuals based on their wildlife value.I do have of course a pond which you can see on another page via the link.I am lucky (yes really) in as much as my garden joins the railway line at the bottom with just an open fence where wildlife can pass through.Railway verges provide an excellent wildlife corridor which runs for miles and is mostly undisturbed..one day when I get the time I will do a study of the one near me and put the results on this site. There are also only the other side of the railway line quite a few acres of allotments whilst although obviously some will have had all the wildlife sprayed out of them there is quite a large area of unused allotments and large trees,as you will see from the pictures. The garden itself is lower than the house and is reached via steps down from the balcony,so I can also appreciate the garden from above.I have nest boxes the Blue Tit one has been successful the Robin one I only put up this year so will wait and see what happens next year.I have Slow worms and common lizards in the garden.
