Insect Lodge for Solitary Bees Ladybirds and Lacewings.

Purchased March 2004 I will try to get photo's of the various insects (hopefully) that will visit or make it their home.

Update 24th July 2004

Thought I would try this out it cost £9.99p lots of hidy holes for the little creatures.
As you can see the front opens out and the area behind is filled with various sizes of bark to give even more hiding places within.
I have moved it from the patio..into this position as I felt that there was not enough insect activity near to it...........
I have fixed it about 5' from the ground ..to enable me to take photo's of "residents" easier.....................
In this position it should be much more successful, surrounded by shrubs and other plants ,south facing yet quite sheltered.
As you can see from the following images it has been a success with numerous bees and other insects visiting or using the site.
This is a species if Megachile (leaf cutter bee) a number of which are using it to nest in,I presume because of the larger holes.
Here is a closer view of the bee at the hole building upthe leaf layers.
